This might be the first post of the blog’s Weekly Updates category, a collection of -hopefully- weekly posts about my personal life. Nothing special, just here to share my hobbies, some notable progress and other shenanigans I’ve been up to that week. It’s also a way to casually document my life and hold myself accountable for certain important (personal) projects. Sometimes I get excited and I want to share stuff or maybe rant my shortcomings haha.
Movie of the week: Captain Marvel 
I’m 2 years late for this but it was a good! A superhero origin story set in the 1990s about US army pilot Carol Danvers. I appreciate the women empowerment elements in the plot. Stan Lee’s cameo is adorable! This story also explains how Fury lost his eye.
TV Show of the week: Grey’s Anatomy [Premiered 2007]
I love career dramas and this is one of them. Who knew someone as creative as Shonda Rhimes could come up with 17 seasons of medical drama about surgeons. When I started watching, I couldn’t stop until season 3. Things got slower from seasons 4 to 6. I haven’t started season 7 yet and I hope it’s great. Will I ever finish the show? I don’t know. I’m just here for Patrick Dempsey.
Book of the week: Two Steps Forward by husband-and-wife Graeme Simsion & Anne Buist

Song of the week: Gone by Rose of Blackpink
When I heard the lyrics, I thought, damn Rose, who hurt you? It’s a bitter song about a breakup that didn’t go well. Apparently, the ex has moved on and found someone new, leaving the persona (example: Rose) to boil in her hatred. It’s fine though, I still like it. I like the soft-pop feel to it too.

Language learning progress: Beginner in Chinese
I made a personal goal to pick up a third language this year, and that is Chinese. I’m using the Duolingo browser and it’s mobile app. I keep screwing up my streaks though but I have no one else to blame but me. I’m still experimenting different learning styles and I think the latest one I came up with is the best: writing down Chinese phrases in a notebook repetitively. Wanna know something? I suck at this. As a beginner, learning a new language is a STRUGGLE but it’s okay, I’ll get there.
Health update: Looking good
I try to get more hours of sleep at night and I’ve been following my fitness schedule quite diligently. Yoga, HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), running and my breezy evening walks. I can’t speak for the nutrition department though cause, well, my Malay household doesn’t have much appetite for healthy food. I can’t wait to live in my own apartment one day and try going vegan!
